Immigration update: Netherlands | New salary thresholds for 2023
The Netherlands’ new salary thresholds applicable for 2023 immigration applications are made public via the website of official announcements of the Dutch government.
Who will be affected?
Inbound immigration procedures to the Netherlands, submitted on or after 1 January 2023.
Background
Every year the Netherlands establishes the new salary thresholds for inbound immigration.
Impact
The new threshold is applicable to all applications submitted on or after 1 January 2023. Employers who require obtainment or extension of a Highly Skilled Migrant, Inter Company Transferee or Blue Card, on or after 1 January 2023 must increase the salary to comply with the new provided threshold. Failure to comply to the new thresholds will result in a rejection of the application.
The new salary thresholds are calculated based on the percentage of indexation, published by the Dutch government, of 3,47%. The following amounts are gross and exclude holiday pay, will be valid as from 1 January 2023:
| Highly Skilled Migrant/ ICT Transferee (>30 years) | € 5.008,- |
| Highly Skilled Migrant/ ICT Transferee (<30 years) | € 3.672,- |
| Lowered Salary Threshold (search year, recent graduates) | € 2.631,- |
| EU Blue Card | € 5.867,- |
All fixed (gross) monthly allowances may be included in the calculation of the salary threshold. These allowances must be paid structurally and every month. They must also be confirmed in writing, preferably in the employment contract.
The salaries must be paid to the Highly Skilled Migrant/ ICT Transferee or Blue Card holder, per month on a bank account in the name of the foreign national.
