Immigration update: Malaysia | Movement Control Order Requirement

Compliance to Movement Control Order Requirement

In addition to the announcement made by the Malaysian Prime Minister on 16th March 2020, the Government of Malaysia has implemented stricter measures during Phase 2 of the Movement Control Order (MCO) from 1st – 14th April 2020 in order to get full compliance throughout the country to curb the spread and minimise the risk of COVID-19 infection.

Who will be affected?

Foreign assignees who breach this restriction will be arrested and their passes will be cancelled.

Background:

The announcement was made by the MDEC Multimedia Digital Economy Corporation on the 6th April 2020.

Implementation:

From the 1st April through to the 14th April 2020.

Santa Fe Analysis:

As such, we advise that all Foreign Knowledge Workers (FKW) in your organisation to adhere to the MCO rules and regulations as the authorities will be taking stern action for non-compliance. Please take note that failing to comply with the MCO, workers may be arrested and current pass can be cancelled.
