Immigration update: New measures for international travellers to Thailand

Who will be affected?

Non-Thai national travelers

Background

Ministry of Public Health announced the new measures to be taken by international travelers to Thailand from 9 January 2023. These measures are based on a non-discrimination basis.

Impact

The measures are as follows:

• The travelers do not require to present the vaccine certificate, but it is recommended that all travelers completed the COVID-19 vaccination.
• Travelers from the country that require them to present the COVID-19 negative test result before/when returning, have to present health insurance that cover the treatment for COVID-19 with the coverage of at least USD 10,000 for the entire duration of stay in Thailand plus 7 days. The passengers who cannot present the said document will not be denied boarding but may be requested to purchase the insurance on arrival in Thailand. The foreigners who reside in Thailand can present their social security document or letter from employer/company confirming the coverage of the COVID-19 treatment.
• Thai nationals are exempt from presenting health insurance.
• Any travelers having symptoms of COVID-19 during travel shall be recommended to test at arrival.
