Latest regulations on Covid-19

The declaration of the State of emergency does not mean that the whole country is quarantined or the borders are closed, as was the case in the spring during the first wave of the Coronavirus epidemic. However, this is not to be ruled out in future.

Measures implemented in the Czech Republic as of the 18th November:

From 18 November 2020, the curfew applies between 9pm and 4.59am, with the following exceptions:

+ travel to work and to carry out a business or other similar activity and to carry out the duties of a public official or constitutional official and back to his place of residence,
+ the pursuit of a profession,
+ carrying out activities to ensure:
+ security, internal order and crisis management,
+ health protection, the provision of health or social care,
+ public transport and other infrastructure,
+ services for residents, including supply and delivery services,
+ urgent journeys, the implementation of which is strictly necessary even at night in order to protect life, health, property or other legally protected interests,
+ dog walking within 500 meters of the place of residence,
+ participation in a mass event, which must meet the conditions set out in the government resolution.

From 18 November 2020, restrictions on free movement between 5 a.m. and 8:59 p.m., with the following exceptions:

+ travel to work and to carry out a business or other similar activity and to carry out the duties of a public official or constitutional official,
+ necessary trips to see family or loved ones,
+ journeys strictly necessary to procure basic necessities of life (e.g. purchase of food, medicines and medical devices, sanitary goods, cosmetics and other drug products, feed and other supplies for animals), including the needs of persons related and close to them, provision of childcare, provision of animal care, use of necessary financial and postal services, re-fuelling, waste disposal,
+ necessary to provide needs and services for another person (e.g. volunteering, neighborhood assistance),
+ trips to health and social services facilities, including the provision of the necessary accompanying of relatives and loved ones, and to veterinary care facilities,
+ traveling for the purpose of handling urgent official matters, including the provision of the necessary escorts of relatives and loved ones,
+ the pursuit of professions or activities used to ensure:
+ security, internal order and crisis management,
+ health protection, the provision of health or social care, including volunteering,+ individual spiritual care and services,
+ public transport and other infrastructure,
+ services for residents, including supply and delivery services,
+ veterinary care,
+ trips for the purpose of staying in nature or parks and staying there,
+ trips to and stay in their own holiday homes,
+ travel from the Czech Republic,
+ participation in the wedding and funeral, in the number of not more than 15 persons,
+ visits to the cemetery,
+ trips to participate in education, including practice and exams,
+ travel to the authorities of health insurance companies,
+ participation in a collective leave event under point VI, as specified in the Government Resolution,
+ back to their place of residence.

A maximum of 2 persons may reside together in public places, more than one person may be:

members of the household, employees working for the same employer, persons jointly engaged in a business or other similar activity, persons who jointly carry out an activity to which they are obliged under the law, and it is necessary to carry out this activity in a higher number of persons, children, pupils and students in the provision of education in schools or school facilities who maintain a distance of at least 2 meters when in contact with other persons, where possible.

When staying in public, it is also necessary to observe a spacing of 2 meters.

From 18 November 2020, the retail and sale and provision of services in establishments is prohibited, with the following exceptions:

food outlets, fuel outlets, stores of sanitary goods, cosmetics and other drug products, pharmacies, dispensaries and medical device stores, small pet stores, feed outlets and other animal supplies, glasses, contact lenses and related goods, newspaper and magazine outlets, tobacco outlets…

From 18 November 2020, the retail sale and sale and provision of services at establishments on Sundays and public holidays shall be prohibited throughout the day and on Mondays to Saturdays between 9 p.m. and 4:59 a.m. with the following exceptions:

petrol stations, Pharmacies, shops in places of increased concentration of passengers at airports, railway stations and bus stations, shops in medical facilities, catering establishments with delivery through a window or delivery…

From 18 November 2020, the following events cannot take place:

concerts and other musical, theatrical, film and other artistic performances, including circuses and variety shows, the joint singing of more than 5 persons in the interior of buildings, with the exception of residence, even if it is the performance of work or business activities, with the exception of kindergartens, pilgrimages and similar traditional events, congresses, educational events and examinations in full-time form, Fairs operation of casinos and bookmakers…

From 18 November 2020 the following applies:

+ only spa rehabilitation care may be provided, which is at least partially covered by public health insurance,
+ prohibition of drinking alcoholic beverages in public places
+ music, dance, gaming and similar social clubs and discos are closed
+ the operation of catering establishments is limited in such a way that between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m., they can only operate through the dispensing window, subject to the specific conditions set out in the government resolution
+ catering facilities are closed between 9pm and 5am
+ closed catering establishments in shopping centers over 5 000 m2

Prohibition of the provision of accommodation services, with the exception of the provision of accommodation

+ persons for the purpose of pursued a profession, business or other similar activity,
+ persons who have been ordered to work under the Crisis Act,
+ foreigners until they leave the Czech Republic and foreigners with work permits in the Czech Republic,
+ persons who have been ordered to be isolated or quarantined,
+ persons whose accommodation has been agreed by the State, the local authorities in total or bodies established or established by them in order to relax the capacities of health service providers or social service providers or to provide accommodation for homeless persons,
+ persons for the purpose of completing accommodation commenced prior to the effective date of this Government resolution

+ there can only be 2 persons at a time at the florist’s premises,
+ a ban on sales in marketplaces, marketplaces and mobile establishments (i.e. sales in stalls, mobile shops and sales from other mobile devices), prohibition of door-to-door and door-to-door sales;

+ the prohibition does not apply to establishments (including mobile) with the sale of reverent goods (e.g. wreaths, flower decorations for graves, reverent candles and the like), food, and drug shops in municipalities where such goods cannot be purchased at another establishment, and does not cover the sale of fruit and vegetables (fresh or processed), milk and meat products, eggs, bakery and confectionery products, honey and honey products produced in the Czech Republic,

in the case of farmers’ markets,consumption is prohibited directly at the markets, at one time there must be no more than 20 persons 400 m2on the area of the farmers’ market, the spacing between the stalls must be 4 meters.

From 18 November 2020 the obligation to wear veils applies:

+ in all indoor areas of buildings, outside the residence or place of accommodation (e.g. hotel room),
in public transport,
+ on the platform, in the shelter and waiting room of public transport,
+ in motor vehicles, unless there are only persons from one household in the vehicle,
+ at all other publicly accessible places in the built-up area of the municipality, where at least 2 persons less than 2 meters apart are + present in the same place and at the same time, unless they are exclusively members of the household.

From 18 November, in exceptional cases where it is necessary for a pupil or student to see the teacher’s mouth during teaching, it is possible for the teacher to use a protective shield as a respiratory protective device, provided that he/she observes a distance of at least 2 meters from the pupils or students.

Schools

Children of the first- and second grades of the school are returned to the school benches (18.11.2020).

Entry / Exit restrictions and requirements (quarantine, negative test etc.)

All persons travelling from countries that are not on the list of the countries with a low risk of contagion have the obligation to contact the regional hygienic station according to the place of stay before their arrival.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO FILL OUT THE FORM IF YOU ARE

+ employed in international transportation
+ EU citizen or third country citizen with long-term or permanent residence in the EU transiting through the Czech Republic for less than 12 hours
+ holder of diplomatic passport or international organization staff if the stay will not exceed 14 days

Children younger than 18 accompanied by a family member do not need to fill out their own form – the accompanying adult will register them by filling out the field about minor co-travelers.

PREPARE A CONFIRMATION FOR PASSPORT CONTROL
Once you fill out and submit the form, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. You will need to show this confirmation when passing through the passport control.

You may either print out the confirmation or display it on your mobile. The confirmation e-mail will contain a QR code that will display an on-line version of the confirmation.

Do keep the confirmation on you while in the Czech Republic. If the case be, you can be asked to show it if subjected to control on the territory of the Czech Republic.

GET TESTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER ARRIVAL

YOU ARE OBLIGATED TO UNDERGO A COVID-19 TEST IMMEDIATELY AFTER ARRIVAL, AT MOST WITHIN FIVE DAYS OF ARRIVAL.
We suggest, to make every attempt to schedule your test appointment with the test site before you travel. There is currently a very high demand to get tested.
