Immigration update: Indonesia | Shorter quarantine for international travellers
Despite the increasing number of Omicron cases, Indonesia has decided to shorten the quarantine period for international travellers since the incubation time of the Omicron variant is shorter than the Delta variant. However, the Indonesian government has added more European countries to the entry ban list due to the increasing number of confirmed Omicron cases in Indonesia.
Who are affected?
International travellers who want to enter Indonesia.
Impact
1. Temporary entry restriction of foreign nationals, direct flight or in transit that within the last 14 (fourteen) days arrived from places:
- Countries with confirmed transmission of the SARS-CoV2 B.1.1.529 (Omicron) variant: South Africa, Botswana, Norway and France.
- Countries with close proximity: Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini and Lesotho.
- Countries with more than 10,000 confirmed cases of SARS-CoV2 B.1.1.529 (Omicron): United Kingdom and Denmark.
2. Shorten length of mandatory quarantine for international travellers:
- From 10 x 24 hours to 7 x 24 hours for Foreign or Indonesian citizens.
- From 14 x 24 hours to 10 x 24 hours for Indonesian Citizens who have travel history and/or stay within 14 (fourteen) days from the restricted countries/regions above.
Implementation
Effective from 7 January 2022 and would be evaluated periodically.
