Immigration update: Japan | New border control update
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan released an announcement on the new immigration program for new entries into Japan from all countries around the world.
Who will be affected?
All new Entries into Japan for long-term status, foreign students, and entry for business purposes.
Impact
The Japanese immigration authorities will allow new entry of foreign nationals into Japan under the supervision of receiving organizations from March 1st, 2022, except for those for touristic purposes.

1) The inviter/employer in Japan is required to submit an online application for entry permission for the newcomers to the designated authorities in Japan in advance of their arrival. (New ERFS system)
2) After the entry permission is issued by the designated authorities, the inviter/employer in Japan shall forward the entry permission to the person who is going to enter Japan, and the person is required to submit a visa application to the local Japanese embassy by using this entry permission and other required documents by the embassy.
Quarantine measures:
From March 1st, 2022, self-quarantine period and place of accommodation after their entry into Japan may be changed whether they obtain a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate.
