Increase of Mandatory Quarantine Fees

Malaysia has entered a recovery phase for the COVID-19 pandemic. The order related to this is made under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and Police Act 1967. The Recovery Movement Control Order (“RMCO”) was supposed to end on 31 August 2020, however it has been extended to 31 December 2020.

Under the RMCO, everyone who enters Malaysia is required to undergo a mandatory quarantine for a period of 14 days. The quarantine fees have been increased from RM2600 to RM4700 effective 24th September 2020.

Who are affected:

All foreign nationals entering Malaysia
Implementation:
Effective from 24th September 2020 onwards.
