Immigration update: Malaysia | MYFutureJobs requirement for employment of foreign nationals by MDEC

We refer to the previous alert made by with regards to the MYFutureJobs portal. Please refer to the announcement here.

Who will be affected?

All Companies who are planning to bring in foreign nationals to take up a new position in Malaysia.

Background

The MYFutureJobs portal was introduced by the government to ensure local employment is given priority for vacant job positions in Malaysia, owing to the economic slowdown and the high unemployment rate due to the pandemic. Effective 1st April 2021, companies are required to attach Approval Letter from SOCSO during submission of application to eXpats Service Centre. The approval letter will be issued by SOCSO after fulfilling the criteria of job position advertisement on MYFutureJobs portal.

In addition, for employment purposes, companies are required to register with Department of Labour (Jabatan Tenaga Kerja), Ministry of Human Resource. For detailed information and further assistance, kindly refer to http://jtksm.mohr.gov.my/ms/akta-borang

Impact

• Failure to comply to the requirements by MDEC may impact the application of a new employment pass
• Failure to register with the Department of Labour, may impact MYFutureJobs application approval.
