Immigration update: Malaysia | New requirements – Dependent pass for newly born child (born in Malaysia)
NEW REQUIREMENTS – DEPENDENT PASS FOR NEWLY BORN CHILD (BORN IN MALAYSIA)
All companies requesting a Dependent Pass (DP) application for an expatriate’s newly born child (born in Malaysia), will need to apply for a Special Pass for the child while waiting for the DP application to be completed.
This is with immediate effect.
Who will be affected?
All Malaysian companies requesting a DP application for their expatriate’s newly born child (born in Malaysia).
Background
With immediate effect, the Immigration Department has instructed companies to apply for a Special Pass for the newly born child, while waiting for the DP application to be completed.
For cases where the DP application has been approved but not yet endorsed, the companies would be required to submit a Special Pass application during the endorsement stage.
Impact
The Immigration Department will only approve a DP application for a newly born child (born in Malaysia) if the Special Pass application has been submitted for the child. There will be an additional government fee of MYR100 for the Special Pass application which needs to be paid to the Immigration Department.
For cases where the DP application has been approved but not yet endorsed, the endorsement process may not be completed by the Immigration Department if the company fails to submit a Special Pass application and documentation for the child during the endorsement stage.
