Waiver of Visa Implementation for Departing Passengers during the Enhanced Community Quarantine

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has released an Advisory waiving the requirement for an implemented visa to the foreign nationals’ passport who will depart the Philippines during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

Who will be affected?

  • Foreign nationals who are departing the Philippines with approved visa or DOJ endorsement and have not yet implemented the visa on the passport.


Background:

To further comply with the social distancing measures, the Board Secretary Atty. Jing Oliver A. Balina has implemented a work from home arrangement and submitted a Note with Recommendation to BI Commissioner Jaime H. Morente recommending that departing passengers with an approved visa or endorsement shall no longer be required to have their visa implemented on their passport.

Impact:

  1. Foreign nationals with a valid tourist or 9a visa with an approved visa or endorsement pending for visa implementation shall be allowed to depart the Philippines provided that they have presented the following documents during departure:
    a. Valid Passport
    b. Printout of Name from Agenda List or DOJ Endorsement (except 13 Quota and EO226 visa)
    c. Official Receipts of the following:
        I. Visa Application
        II. ECC/RP or ECC/SRC [except SVEG, EO226 and 47A2 (if free from payment based on DOJ Endorsement)]
       III. Update of Tourist Visa, if applicable (for Conversion of Visa only)
  2. Foreign nationals who departed the country under this policy shall be admitted as a temporary visitor and will be required to file for a Re-validation upon return to the Philippines.  They are not allowed to proceed with the visa implementation until the Re-validation is approved.


Implementation:

Effective 30 March 2020 until 13 April 2020.
