Immigration update: Singapore and Malaysia agree to quarantine-free Vaccinated Travel Lane
Malaysia and Singapore will allow quarantine-free travel between both countries for individuals fully inoculated against COVID-19 at the end of this month with a special Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) between Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Changi Airport.
Who are affected?
Any individual who is travelling between Malaysia and Singapore.
Background
The Malaysia – Singapore borders have been closed since 18 March 2020. Given the significant progress that both countries have made in vaccinating their respective populations and managing the COVID-19 pandemic, the respective Prime Ministers have agreed it is time to progressively resume cross-border travel between both countries, in a safe manner.
Under the VTL, fully vaccinated travellers will be able to travel between Singapore and Malaysia, and be subjected to COVID-19 tests in lieu of serving quarantine or a stay-at-home Notice.
Impact
The details of this arrangement between Malaysia and Singapore are yet to be finalised and we will update as soon as information is received.
Implementation
Effective from 29 November 2021.
