Immigration update : Thailand foreign workers administration office

Thailand | Foreign Workers Administration Office at DinDaeng, Bangkok Closing on Jan 15, 2020

The Foreign Workers Administration Office at DinDaeng, Bangkok will be closed permanently on Jan 15, 2020. From Jan 16, 2020 onwards, companies will be asked to submit their work permit related applications at the respective Employment District Office 1-10, depending on their location of registration.

Who will be affected?

Companies not under any promotional schemes (BOI, I.E.A.T., DMF) will be impacted.

Background:

In the past, companies not under Thai government promotional schemes can choose to submit their work permit related applications (WP1, WP3, WP5, work permit amendment application or other related applications) at the Foreign Workers Administration Office at DinDaeng, Bangkok, or at the respective Employment District Office 1-10, depending on their location of registration.

We just learnt that the Foreign Workers Administration Office at DinDaeng will be closed permanently on Jan 15, 2020. Thus, companies need to submit their applications to the local Employment District Office 1-10 instead from Jan 16, 2020 onwards, depending on their location of registration. Each local Employment District Office could have different employment regulations that vary from the existing regulations at DinDaeng, which could have an impact on work permit related applications. We will learn more about it in the coming days and share the details via our alerts.

Impact:

The processing time at the local Employment District Office 1-10 could range from 1 to 7 working days depending on the location, while the current processing time at the Foreign Workers Administration Office at DinDaeng is 3 working days. We are not aware of any new document requirements at this stage.
