Five year multi-entry tourist visa approved
The UAE cabinet after meeting for the first time in 2020 approved a new five -year multi -entry tourist visa for all nationalities with an aim to attract more visitors.
Who will be affected?
Multiple entry visas to UAE were previously valid up to 90 days. However, with the approval of this new initiative, all nationalities are eligible to apply for a 5-year multi-entry tourist visa.
Background
UAE welcomes approximately 21 million visitors annually and the aim of this initiative is to further solidify UAE’s position as a major tourist destination.
Facilitating travel is pivotal for the UAE, as Dubai is hosting EXPO 2020, starting in October 2020. The Expo is spanning across six months, the event is expected to attract millions of people. Many are expected to come back for repeat visits to the EXPO. Mobility into the country helps boost tourism, investment and business activity.
Impact
The multi-entry five-year tourist visa will encourage travelers to become ‘repeat visitors’ and contribute to economic growth while they are in the Emirates.
It will allow tourists multiple entries into the country over the five-year period, instead of having to apply for entry for each visit.
