Most liveable cities in the world

Deciding where to live is a consideration that should be taken seriously, and you shouldn’t let other people dictate where your new home should be. Whilst you may want to move to a big-name city or return to the place you grew up, by taking a look at the world’s most liveable cities, you can make a conscious decision to live somewhere that will ultimately improve your quality of life based on your core needs and interests. Here at Santa Fe Relocation, we’re taking a look at the liveable cities you may want to consider before making any rational decisions.

Melbourne, Australia

Melbourne has been named the world’s liveable city, and for good reason. With incredibly high ratings across all the index’s criteria, taking factors such as crime, healthcare, education and infrastructure into account, Melbourne is near-perfect. Melbourne stood out in culture and environment in particular, enabling the city to achieve first place above the likes of Vienna and Calgary. Offering an abundance of sporting and cultural events as well as an incredible food scene, the magnificent city of Melbourne is suitable for even the fussiest eaters among us.

Vienna, Austria

With plentiful green spaces, smartly-planned waterways and an extensive network of bike lanes, it’s no wonder that Vienna, Austria has been named as one of the world’s best cities to live in, and thanks to its economy, education and culture, the vibrant area has previously been named the city with highest quality of life. Whilst pollution is a massive global issue, Vienna in particular has an excellent reputation for being a green city, with air quality measured as ‘good’ and accessibility as ‘very high’.  If you want to reduce your carbon footprint, we certainly suggest moving here!

Calgary, Canada

Named as one of the most comfortable places in the world, we couldn’t not mention Calgary in our list of the world’s top five most liveable cities. As one of Canada’s most famous cities thanks to its weird yet wonderful annual Stampede and its significant importance to the oil industry, moving to Calgary is a popular choice among many. Located less than an hour’s drive away from the infamous Rocky Mountains and stunning national parks, Calgary has more than just majestic scenery on offer, from magnificent infrastructure and a culturally rich population.

Adelaide, Australia

Whilst it’s argued that Adelaide, Australia, is more liveable than any other city and the cost of living is unbelievably affordable, the city is the fourth most liveable city in the world. Regardless of whether you enjoy spicy food, healthy food or traditional pub food, you will be able to find a favourite spot in Adelaide with ease, and with a good work-life balance on offer, you can truly make the most of your time living in the beautiful city. Also boasting a good public transport system, you can rest assured that you will not experience any difficulty getting around.

Perth, Australia

Perth remains as one of the world’s most liveable cities, despite being up against Adelaide and Melbourne, and while many have made the move to Australia, few have looked beyond the east coast. By heading west, you can avoid the hustle and bustle of Australia, yet still get to experience the great things this amazing country has to offer. Home to a diverse population, booming economy and clean beaches, there’s not much that can turn you away from the city’s charm.
