How does motorcycle shipping work?
When you are you ready to ship your motorcycle, simply let one of our move coordinators know and they’ll start the process. To track any damage done during the shipping process, a motorcycle condition report will be done. After this, your vehicle will be picked up by a Santa Fe motorcycle mover and prepared for shipping. We only use the latest in shipping techniques when it comes to transporting your motorcycle, for added peace of mind.
What about motorcycle shipping cover?
We understand how much motorcycles can mean to their owners, which is why we recommend a Santa Fe shipment protection plan. With one, we can guarantee that your motorcycle will be covered in the case of any unforeseen circumstances. Shipping vehicles is never an exact science and sometimes the unexpected happens, making getting cover a great idea.
What types of transport are available?
There are generally two main types of transportation used to ship motorcycles; open and enclosed. The former is the most cost-effective option and it comes with a large degree of flexibility too. This is because it’s much more likely that you’ll find a shipping slot that works for you. Enclosed shipping is the more expensive, but it is also the best way to guarantee your motorcycle against damage during the transportation process. With enclosed shipping, your motorcycle will be kept in its own dedicated shipment crate, safe from weather and any debris that might be flying around.
Can I leave any personal effects on my motorcycle?
When shipping motorcycles, you cannot leave any personal effects on the vehicle because there is no safe space to place the items. This includes riding gear and panniers.
How else should I prepare my motorcycle for shipping?
Make sure that your motorcycle doesn’t have any leaking fluids, such as oil, water or any other type of liquid. Otherwise your motorcycle will not be allowed on board the transportation vessel. Also, don’t fill up the fuel take beyond ¼ full, as going over this limit adds to the overall weight and subsequently, the total cost.
You should thoroughly clean your motorcycle to help it pass the customs and quarantine inspects, which can often be quite strict. Failing to do so might mean you have to pay over the odds for a cleaning service. In addition, it is important that your motorcycle be road worthy and you must leave the keys in the ignition. Don’t forget to leave the steering unlocked and fold the mirrors as this makes loading your motorcycle easier (there is less chance of the mirrors catching on something throughout the shipping journey as well).
