Overview
Effective 1 March 2024, mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements for all pass holders have been lifted.
Who will be affected?
This is applicable to all pass holders and local sponsors/employers.
Background
Previously, due to COVID-19, all pass holders aged 13 and above must be fully vaccinated (including booster, if eligible).
Currently, pass holders are encouraged to opt for COVID-19 vaccination to safeguard themselves against severe illness and reduce the risk of transmission. Pass holders can avail themselves of the free vaccination or additional doses by following the guidelines below:
- Male non-Malaysian Work Permit holders in the Construction, Marine shipyard, and Process (CMP) sectors with an in-principle approval (IPA): They have the option to receive the vaccination through the Onboard programme.
- Work Permit and S Pass holders employed in the CMP sectors or residing in dormitories: They have the flexibility to approach any vaccination location or medical center for vaccination services.
- All other pass holders: They can approach any vaccination location to receive their vaccination.
By choosing to get vaccinated, pass holders not only protect themselves but also contribute to the collective effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19 within the community.
Impact
The government’s progressive approach to phasing out the remaining COVID-19 protocols by lifting the mandatory vaccination requirements for pass holders is a highly welcomed development. This shift is poised to usher in a multitude of positive impacts within the pass holder community.
