Official notification of visa waiver agreement initiation between the Republic of Ghana and the Republic of South Africa
A visa waiver agreement has been established between the Republic of Ghana and the Republic of South Africa, which became effective on the 1st of November, 2023.
Who will be affected?
This agreement pertains specifically to ordinary passport holders who are nationals of the Republic of Ghana and the Republic of South Africa.
Background
With the establishment of this agreement, bearers of ordinary passports from both Ghana and South Africa are hereby exempted from the requirement to obtain a port of entry visa for purposes of business and touristic travel. Such individuals are now authorized to transit, enter, and remain within the territories of the respective countries for a total duration not exceeding ninety (90) days within any given 12-month period.
Please be duly informed that this waiver does not extend to the authorization of employment within the tenure of the stay under this provision.
Impact
Holders of an ordinary passport for Ghana and South African will no longer require a port of entry visa for business and tourism purposes . They may transit through, depart from, and stay in the territory of both countries for a cumulative period of up to ninety (90) days within a 12 month cycle. It is important to note that the waiver agreement does not permit employment during the stay.
Date of implementation
This agreement was put into effect on the 1st of November, 2023.
