Navigating the Bangkok Relocation Landscape

Thailand continues to update its immigration policies to attract global talent and investment. Staying compliant with the latest rules is crucial for a secure move.

• The E-Work Permit System
A change for professionals in 2025 is the new e-work permit system by the Ministry of Labor. This digital platform streamlines applications and renewals, replacing the traditional ‘blue book’ permit. Expats must still secure the correct Non-Immigrant Visa (such as the Non-Immigrant B for business) beforehand.

• Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa
The LTR Visa, valid for 10 years, has seen recent changes (as of mid-2025) making it more accessible. The financial threshold for the ‘Work-from-Thailand Professionals’ category has been lowered. The scheme is now more family-friendly, allowing unlimited dependents (spouse, parents, and children under 20). LTR holders also benefit from simplified reporting (once a year instead of every 90 days).

• Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)
The paper-based TM6 Arrival/Departure form has been replaced by the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). This is mandatory for all foreign visitors from May 1, 2025, this must be completed online before arrival.

When is the best time of year to relocate to Thailand?

We can support your move at any time during the year, however it’s important to note these key dates in the calendar for Thailand. These may affect your move and you may experience delays to your shipment.

• Songkran (10–15 April): most government offices and customs close
• Loy Krathong (November): increased port congestion

Our peak moving season runs from May to August, which does limit freight space, resulting in higher rates and potential delays. Plus, you may experience some access issues during our rainy season between May and October in certain provinces.
