Immigration update: Malaysia | Reduced quarantine period for travellers into Malaysia
Travellers entering the country will begin serving a reduced quarantine period from Monday, 18th October 2021
Who are affected?
Any Malaysian citizen, permanent residents, expatriate, or any other foreigner allowed to enter Malaysia
Background
All individuals who are fully vaccinated including individuals returning from high-risk infection areas (countries) are required to only serve 7 days quarantine.
Those who are not vaccinated or have yet to complete their COVID-19 vaccine doses will undergo a quarantine period of 10 days.
This announcement was made after the coronavirus’ infectious rate or R-naught dropped below 1.0 to 0.86, as Malaysia recorded fewer than 10,000 new daily infections for the past two weeks and 91.2% of the country’s adult population have been fully vaccinated as of Thursday, while 95% have had at least one vaccine dose.
Together with the relaxation, it is also announced that the country’s core economic zone, the Klang Valley (comprising Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya), will transition into Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan, together with Melaka, starting on Monday.
Impact
Travel into Malaysia is made easier allowing foreign individuals to travel and return to Malaysia.

Effective from Monday, 18th October 2021.
