It is therefore critical for us to enhance our personal security by building safer communities. This requires the commitment of everyone.

Owen Cook

Co-owner, Scene Assist, Johannesburg

Owen is an independent risk consultant with nine years’ experience advising both corporate and individual clients on risk management, safety and security and resilience. He has extensive experience in managing operational teams in varied environments; this includes high-risk services in the Middle Eastern oil and gas sector, as well as executive protection throughout Africa and Europe.

Owen is currently a director at the Johannesburg-based Scene Assist, where he advises clients on security-related projects. He is also the security coordinator for Jozi Trails, an ambitious city-wide project designed to create a safe network of recreational trails throughout Johannesburg.

Owen served for six years as a member of the United Kingdom’s Parachute Regiment, with several operational deployments.

Andrew Shaw

Andrew Shaw grew up in rural KZN, he read Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Stellenbosch University and thereafter completed a Law degree.
After University he worked managing risk on major infrastructure and engineering projects in Southern Africa, Africa, China and Pakistan.

He is a member of Archology Society of South Africa, Criminology Society of South Africa, and the African Association of Risk Professionals

Ruth Lockwood
