Immigration update: Kenya | Only one week left to register for Huduma Namba
Only one week left to register for Huduma Namba
The Huduma Number registration process is open until the middle of May and requires every local and foreign national in Kenya to register.
Who will be affected?
This will affect local and foreign nationals in Kenya.
Background
The Government initiated the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) program through Executive Order No. 1 (2018). The purpose of this initiative is to create and manage a central master population database which will be the ‘single source of truth’ on a person’s identity. The database will contain information of all Kenyan citizens and foreign nationals residing in Kenya and will serve as a reference point for ease of service delivery to the people of Kenya (Huduma Namba kwa Huduma Bora).
You can follow this link for more information: Huduma Namba
The exercise is being done in all administrative offices such as County Commissioner’s and their deputies, chiefs, sub-chiefs offices countrywide (There’s also a point of registration at Nyayo House on Posta street-CBD).
Impact
This will have very little impact on Immigration to Kenya as the intention of this process is to improve service delivery in Kenya as a whole.
How Santa Fe can assist?
Santa Fe can support businesses who wish to employ foreign nationals in Kenya by assessing their eligibility to qualify for the required work permits to ensure compliance with the immigration rules. We can also review current employees’ work authorizations and if it is found that the correct work permit is not in place we can assist with corrective measures to ensure compliance.
We can also keep your business updated on further developments in Kenyan immigration matters and will advise on any changes requiring your attention.
