HKSAR Government update on the changes to hotel quarantine.
Who will be affected?
Anyone entering Hong Kong.
The current arrangement of 3+4, in which overseas arrivals are required to complete 3 days quarantine at a designated Government Hotel followed by 4 days medical surveillance has now been replaced by 0+3 as of 26th September 2022 at 6:00am. This mean that travelers are not required to do 3 days quarantine in a Designated Quarantine Hotel. Travelers will still however be required to do 3 days self-monitoring and during this period. Any travelers who arrive before 6:00am on the 26th September 2022 will still need to take designated cars to their quarantine hotel.
Travelers arriving in Hong Kong will be allowed to take a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) within 24 hours of departure to Hong Kong, replacing the previous requirement of a nucleic acid test (PCR).
Under the new “test-and-go” measure, arrivals at the airport will not have to wait for their PCR tests at the airport. Visitors will be given an amber code on the government’s risk exposure app” Leave Home Safe” upon their arrival and are allowed to go out during their 3 day surveillance. They will be subject to amber code restriction, which prevents them from entering restaurants and bars. They will be given a blue code, which will lift the restrictions, on the fourth day of their arrival if PCR test a day before is negative. Travelers will still also need to complete a PCR test on the 4th and 6th day of arrival.
If any traveler is tested positive, they will either be isolated at home, in hotel or in community facilities depending on the situation.
More details on the self-monitoring and testing requirements will follow shortly.
Expect an influx of people returning to Hong Kong in the coming months.
Santa Fe recommendation
Santa Fe advises all our clients to continue to take health and safety measures while they travel.
The HKSAR is continuing to monitor the situation and is aiming to suspend all measures in phases.
