COVID-19: phase 2, extra control and containment measures
Following the spread of the Coronavirus in Belgium the authorities have implemented new restrictive measurements starting this evening at midnight.
Following will be implemented from March 13th midnight till April 3th 2020:
- Schools:
Primary and High schools: Lessons will be suspended, day care is provided for children that cannot stay home
Child day care: stay open
Universities: stay open, but are recommended to provide alternative teaching
- Businesses:
Discos, pubs, and restaurants: closed
Hotels: stay open, except the restaurants
Home delivery and drive-through are aloud
Shops stay open during the week (Mon-Fri), but are closed during the weekend (Sat-Sun)
Grocery stores and pharmacies stay open, also during the weekend
- Recreational events (sports, culture, folklore, religious services, museums…):
All events are to be cancelled, public or private, regardless of size
- Labor market:
Everyone is encouraged to do teleworking where possible
- Public transport:
Normal timetables, but is requested to be used only when needed.
These measures have no impact on the ability to travel to Belgium, but will certainly be disrupting daily-life in the country, for business travelers as well as future and current assignees.
