Changes in the Residence Permit fees
As a reminder, in order to get a residence permit delivered, the applicant needs to pay a tax fee. Since 2019 Tax stamp can only be purchased online on the official website:
Article 26 of the finance law of 2020 now enters into force and establishes the following system:
The principle is now to pay a tax of 200 euros for first application and renewal of residence permit (instead of 250 euros).
This fee is applicable to the following documents:
– Temporary residence card
– Long stay visa with the value of residence card
– Residence card
In case of request of duplicate additional fees are not requested anymore.
By exception, some residence permits are submitted to a 50 euros fees. It mostly concerns students, interns, au pairs, and students in job search.
The law also determines precise situations in which the applicants are completely exempted of tax fees for the delivery of residence permit (for example: retirement, stateless, some military status).
Regularisation fees in case of entry without the appropriate visa went from 340 to 200 euros.
The “droit de timbre” due for the delivery of a residence card or an equivalent document has been increased from 19 to 25 euros.
The Document of Circulation for Minor which went from 45 euros to 50 euros.
Mostly the new law sets up a system in the advantage of the applicants.
