Special Pass Requirements and the Introduction of E-Special Pass (eSP) for the Renewal of Employment Pass by ESD

The Immigration Department of Malaysia has introduced the e-Special Pass (eSP) submission through Expatriate Service Division (ESD) online, for companies that are under the ESD purview. This process is currently only applicable to Employment Pass renewal application submissions through ESD online.

Expatriates on EP (All categories) and their dependents who require a Special Pass (SP)

 

Next Steps (or) Actions Required
Various scenarios relate to the application process for a special pass:

Scenario: Application approved and submission of endorsement before the expiry of current pass.

Action: To submit passport for endorsement without SP within 30 days after the application is approved at eXpats service Centre.

Scenario: Application approved before the expiry of current pass and submission of endorsement after the expiry of current pass.

Action: To submit passport for endorsement without SP at eXpats Service Centre.

Scenario: Application approved after the expiry of current pass.

Action: Apply for Special Pass directly at Immigration Unit (Expatriate Services) of MDEC Cyberjaya before submission of passport for endorsement.

Scenario: Applicant entered Malaysia with the approval letter and the current entry stamp (Social Visit Pass) has expired before submission of passport for endorsement.

Action: Apply for Special Pass directly at Immigration Unit (Expatriate Services) of MDEC Cyberjaya before submission of passport for endorsement.

 

Impact
• Companies are required to take immediate action for applications with expired pass validity.
• Companies are required to make an online appointment via appt.expats.com.my before going to the Expats Service Center.
• Kindly take note that eSP for other passes (i.e. Professional Visit Pass (PVP), Dependent Pass (DP), Long-Term Social Visit Pass (LT-SVP) etc) will be introduced later.
